Presenter: Cathy Rafales | Director, Ohio Senior Medicare Patrol / ProSeniors

Cathy Rafales is the statewide program director for the Ohio Senior Medicare Patrol, based out of the nonprofit Pro Seniors, where she leads a dedicated team in educating older adults about Medicare fraud and empowering them to take action. Cathy holds a Master's degree in Healthcare Administration, which underpins her career-long commitment to serving vulnerable populations, improving healthcare access, and empowering individuals to navigate complex systems.

Description: This presentation will share resources offered by Pro Seniors for Ohioans 60 and over. Then we'll talk about how older adults can prevent, detect and report Medicare fraud. We will look at the scams through the eyes of a transnational criminal organization and then we'll examine how an older adult might see signs of the crime. Finally, we'll talk about how to detect and report scams and fraud so that we can all be fraud fighters and keep our communities safe and healthy.

1. Attendees will leave with the knowledge of services offered by Pro Seniors and how to access these.
   
2. Attendees will gain knowledge of how Medicare fraud occurs and the specific harm it can cause to beneficiaries.
   
3. Attendees will learn how to report suspected Medicare fraud to help stop the scammers!
