Special Presentation: Brain Health for All: Recommendations for Optimal Brain Health and Reduced Risk of Dementia

Presenter: Lindsay Blackburn | Alzheimer's Association-Central Ohio Chapter

Lindsay Blackburn is a Licensed Social Worker and Program Manager for the Central Ohio Chapter Alzheimer's Association. She is about to celebrate 4 years with the Association and in addition to serving Franklin county, also serves Fairfield, Pickaway, Fayette, Madison, and Union. An experienced Special Project Manager she has focused her work in nonprofit special projects, volunteer management, and fundraising as well as direct community service. Connecting people with missions that matter to them through meaningful experiences has been a highlight as she has worked with corporate and professional teams. Lindsay graduated from The Ohio State University and lives in Columbus with her family.

Description: This program explores best practices for brain health including science-backed recommendations for reducing risk of dementia, new methods for early detection of dementia, and the latest treatment options for individuals living with dementia. Hear about resources available from the Alzheimer’s Association to individuals to implement both personally and professionally.

Learning Objectives

  1. Recognize brain healthy habits that can be incorporated into any lifestyle to reduce the risk of dementia.
  2. Identify the latest tools and procedures for diagnosing Alzheimer's disease, and the importance of early detection.
  3. List treatment options and care and support services that are available for individuals living with Alzheimer's disease and their care partners.
